Terms of Use
Effective Date: May 2026 Last Updated: May 2026
A quick word before the legal language
These Terms of Use lay out the ground rules for visiting and using the Tech Central KC website. We tried to keep them clear. By using the Site, you're agreeing to what's below — so please take a few minutes to read through. If you have questions, our contact details are at the bottom.
1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Tech Central KC website at [techcentralkc.com] and any related digital properties (collectively, the "Site"), operated by Tech Central KC, an initiative of KC Digital Drive and the KC Tech Council ("Tech Central," "we," "us," or "our").
By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Site.
2. Who can use the Site
The Site is intended for users 13 and older. If you're under 18, you should review these Terms with a parent or guardian. By using the Site, you represent that you meet these requirements and have the authority to agree to these Terms — on behalf of yourself, or if you're using the Site for an organization, on behalf of that organization.
3. About the Site
Tech Central KC is a community hub for Kansas City's tech ecosystem. The Site provides information about our programs, events, and partners, ways to connect with the Tech Central community, and resources for entrepreneurs, technologists, and the broader business community.
We may add, change, or remove features at any time without notice. We may also limit access to certain features or to the Site as a whole.
4. Acceptable use
When you use the Site, you agree not to:
Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
Impersonate any person or organization, or misrepresent your affiliation with one
Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information
Upload or share content that's defamatory, harassing, threatening, hateful, obscene, or otherwise objectionable
Infringe on the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any person or organization
Distribute viruses, malware, or any other harmful code
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, our servers, or any connected systems
Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access the Site without our written permission, except for standard search engine indexing
Interfere with or disrupt the Site or the servers and networks connected to it
Collect or harvest information about other users without their consent
Use the Site to send unsolicited promotional messages or otherwise spam our community
Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Site
We reserve the right to investigate and take appropriate action against anyone who violates these rules, including removing content, restricting access, and cooperating with law enforcement.
5. User-submitted content
The Site may let you submit content — through contact forms, the brand discovery quiz, event registrations, surveys, comments, or other interactive features ("User Content").
You own your User Content. Submitting it doesn't transfer ownership to us.
You give us a license to use it. By submitting User Content, you grant Tech Central a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, and display that content in connection with operating and promoting the Site, our programs, and our community. This license includes the right to share content with our partner organizations as relevant to the program or activity you're participating in.
You're responsible for what you submit. You represent that you have the right to submit any User Content you share, that it doesn't violate anyone else's rights, and that it doesn't contain anything unlawful or harmful.
We can remove content. We reserve the right (but not the obligation) to review, edit, or remove User Content at any time, for any reason, without notice.
6. Intellectual property
The Site and everything on it — text, graphics, logos, images, videos, audio, designs, layouts, code, and other content — is owned by Tech Central, our licensors, or our partners, and is protected by U.S. and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You may view, download, and print content from the Site for personal, non-commercial purposes, provided you don't modify it and you keep all copyright and proprietary notices intact.
You may not reproduce, distribute, publicly display, create derivative works from, or otherwise use any content from the Site for commercial purposes without our prior written consent.
"Tech Central," "Tech Central KC," "710 Central," and any related logos, taglines, and design elements are trademarks or service marks of Tech Central KC and its operating partners. You may not use these without written permission.
7. Third-party content and links
The Site may include links to third-party websites, social media platforms, partner organizations, news articles, or other resources. These links are provided for convenience. We don't control these third-party sites and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices. Following a link to a third-party site is at your own risk.
The Site may also feature content, programs, or events produced by or in partnership with other organizations. Inclusion doesn't constitute endorsement.
8. Disclaimers
The Site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tech Central disclaims all warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranties arising from course of dealing or usage of trade.
We don't warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We don't warrant that information on the Site is accurate, complete, current, or reliable. Any reliance you place on Site content is at your own risk.
Information on the Site is intended for general informational purposes and shouldn't be relied on as legal, financial, business, or professional advice. For advice about your specific situation, consult a qualified professional.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, in no event will Tech Central, KC Digital Drive, the KC Tech Council, or any of our officers, directors, employees, contractors, partners, sponsors, or agents be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, business interruption, or loss of goodwill — arising out of or related to your use of the Site.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Tech Central, KC Digital Drive, the KC Tech Council, and our officers, directors, employees, contractors, partners, sponsors, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your use of the Site, your User Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another person or organization.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site at any time, for any reason, without notice or liability. You may stop using the Site at any time.
Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and governing law — will survive.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last Updated" date at the top. If we make material changes, we'll provide notice through the Site or by email where appropriate. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Site will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Jackson County, Missouri, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
You agree that any claim must be brought within one (1) year of the events giving rise to the claim, or it will be permanently barred.
14. General provisions
Entire agreement. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Tech Central regarding the Site.
Severability. If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest will remain in effect.
No waiver. Our failure to enforce any part of these Terms isn't a waiver of our right to do so later.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them to a successor organization or partner without restriction.
Headings. Section headings are for convenience only and don't affect interpretation.
